Marble

Marble is a metamorphic limestone.  High heat and pressure will crystalize limestone, resulting in marble.  This heat and pressure combined with the flow of water in the Earth's crust over missions of years results in the wide veining characteristics and color variations found in marble.  The crystaline structure allows the marble to take a high polish, and bring out the color of the other trace elements in the stone.Marble 

Marble is generally harder than limestone and travertine, but softer than granite.

VARIATION IS AN INHERENT CHARACTERISTIC OF ALL MARBLE, AND ENHANCES THE APPEARANCE OF ANY ROOM.

LIMITATIONS:  Marble is not recommended for kitchen counters due to the possibility of staining from acidic products found in food preparations.  Cooking items such as wine, pasta sauce, fruit juices can cause damage to the stone that sealers cannot protect.

MARBLE CARE & MAINTENANCE

Sealers:

Once the grout has properly cured, it is recommended to seal the stone with a high quality penetrating sealer.  Generally stone sealers are designed to penetrate the stone leaving a non-sheen, natural look and provide protection from liquids that would otherwise absorb into and possibly stain the stone.  Various maintenance products are available to enhance and highlight the character and beauty of the stone while sealing at the same time.

Cleaners:

Do not clean any natural stone with an acidic cleaner, including vinegar, or anything with a lemon or lime on the label.  These products will damage the stone.  It is always recommended to use a cleaner specifically designed for natural stone.
